Swollen Wall by Paul Coudamy
Paul Coudamy, a French designer has created a fat bookshelf lining the walls of Paris apartment.
Curved shelves edge create a profile stand out along the wall, while the box extruded out of the closet grids. It goes on the wall, through the dressing room and can create space in the entrance area, or spread on a corner wall of the office space that can accommodate a guest mattress under the elevated table platform.
From the floor to the top, shelf is directed by a 20 × 20cm square of the grid. This grid is defined by a pocket book format and flexible enough to zoom in a larger format or object. Therefore you can find room for umbrellas, speakers, vases, A4 files, etc. Closed storage block extruded from these cells offer a dressing, storage devices, mini bar and so on.
With deformation edges, creating a broad perspective of the wall that appear as odd mutation in a classic residence. [Via]
